Sara María Pardo, recently described by The Chicago Tribune as an “irresistible charmer who brings show-stopping pizzazz to her singing and dancing,” is a versatile performer, transitioning seamlessly from operatic stages to light opera, musical theatre and beyond. Some of her favorite roles include: Miss Jones (How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying), Baker’s Wife (Into the Woods), Catherine (Pippin), Nelly Nettleton (American premiere of Kálmán’s Arizona Lady), Emily Webb (Southeast premiere of Rorem’s opera Our Town), Ilia (Idomeneo), Mariane (Mechem’s Tartuffe), Frasquita (Carmen), Fiordiligi (Cosí fan tutte) and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel) in opera outreach performances, and the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro) performed at Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza in Rome, Italy.
Ms. Pardo has also been a competition favorite, winning the 2006 North Carolina District Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and taking 3rd place at the 2010 Elgin Opera Vocal Competition. On the concert stage, she has performed as the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah, Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915, on a concert entitled “Leona Mitchell & Friends” with the famed Metropolitan Opera star, and as Zerlina in a concert version of Don Giovanni with the North Carolina Symphony.
Ms. Pardo, a native of Zanesville, Ohio, received her Master of Music and Professional Artist Certificate at the prestigious A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute, part of the University of North Carolina – School of the Arts, and her Bachelor of Music degree from the Ohio State University.
